Electricity

- how left-overs in The Collection sparked new learning about circuits, flow and creative invention.

‘I have a very good mind for this electricity.’

How do we work with children’s authentic interests? How can sparks of curiosity develop into long-term projects?

As the 5 and 6 year olds enter the Atelier at the beginning of the school year, remnants of an old project set new currents of interest running. Working with real world materials in collaborative groups, ideas pass between us a little like electrons travelling through connected wires. What could it mean to keep thinking about our research in this electrical way? What might we discover about how learning builds through flow and connection?
