What does it mean to think scientifically? How are creativity and science connected? What can we learn about the smallest forms of life?

We zoomed into the details of plants, bacteria and other microbes. We zoomed out to understand how a whole forest of trees can communicate through root systems. The children represented what they saw, thought about, and wondered in drawing, printmaking, model-making and by curating a table-top Micrarium - a place for tiny specimens and discoveries.

In our open classroom event ‘Look Very Closely!’, the children became the teachers for older classes and for their families. They raised awareness not only of micro-worlds but of 5 and 6 year olds’ capacity for scientific thinking.
