Movement and Stillness

- observing, interpreting and building projects from 4 year olds’ explorations in local landscape

Three children run in circles around a ditch, week after week; a child stands still, watching the treetops, wondering how a bird could have fallen from the sky; hands and feet climb, run, feel their way; friends invent games so they can rest together. This short film brings together observations of 4 year old children during weekly visits to their local forest, starting with educator research questions: What kinds of movement do we see in the forest, and what kinds of stillness? How can we work more with these back in the nursery?
